Race Day

Just me today.

The Auckland weather had been pretty terrible all week, but the last 2 days were quite dry, and the sun was shining. The trail was certainly muddy in places, but I wore my TectonX shoes. If it had been any wetter then the Salomons would have been better. But I felt quite light on my feet and reasonably quick all day.

I surely slowed on the second loop, but never stalled badly.

I jogged slowly 6km yesterday and the day before. That non-tapering didn't seem to hurt me much (if at all)

Slightly different course this year (the event base was in the carpark)

I exchanged places several times with a girl who turned out to be the first female home. She finally overtook me with 2km to go and only beat me by 8 seconds, so I should have tried harder!
